Greg Street is a producer and DJ from Atlanta, GA. He has worked with many artists from the south and west coast. This record is basically a compilation with artists from the Dirty South and it happens to be one of his best work. This third coast tribute album was released in 2001 on Slip-N-Slide Records. Production was done by Greg Street, Pimp C of UGK, Jazze Pha, Jermaine Dupri, Noke D, Kenya Miller, DJ Herb, Carl Mo, DJ Paul and Juicy J of Three 6 Mafia. The beats are phenomenal. They are strictly down south orientated and easily bang all through out the album. The lyrics are even better and are courtesy of Scarface, UGK, Outkast, Three 6 Mafia, Eightball, Mystikal, Baby of Big Tymers, Too $hort, Goodie Mob, Field Mob, Pastor Troy, Trick Daddy, Ludacris, Trina, Z-Ro, Big Moe, D-Gotti, The Last Mr. Bigg, Jazze Pha, Jermaine Dupri and Ronnie Spencer. This is no ordinary list of performers. The unrelenting production along with the dope lyrics keep the album playing smoothly. Street put together a very solid and worthwhile compilation and it does not fall short in any department.

Pymp Tyte is a duo from the southside of Houston, TX. The two rappers are Sean Pymp and Tyte Eyez. All N' Yo Face is their debut album and it was released in 1999 on Wreckshop Records. Production was handled by the notorious Platinum Souls, which consists of Double D, Noke D and Chicken Hawk. The beats are certainly banging on this one. Platinum Souls help gave the album its' southern twang. Both the rappers can spit. Their lyrics are fast paced and display diverting rhyme schemes. Featuring on the album is Fat Pat, R.A.W., 3-2, Hawk, Big Steve, South Park Mexican, Big Pokey, E.S.G., Dirty $, Noke D, Lil' 2 Ach, D-Reck, Nutty Black, Double D and Ronnie Spencer. A jamming record overall that has the ability to play itself out. This happened to be the duo's only album, although they made numerous appearances on other records from the south.

Southside Playaz is a group from Houston, TX. The original group consisted of Fat Pat, Mike D, and Mr. 3-2. Since Fat Pat passed away in 1998, he was replaced with Clay-Doe. This is their debut album and it was released in 1998 on Laftex Records. Production is done with quality by Big Swift, Eric Hollis and Slack. The beats are smooth and are laced with that Texas funk. Lyrics are dope as well. All three members check the mic often. Their different styles fuse and blend together very nicely. Guest appearances are by K.B. Da Kidnappa & Lil' Flea of Street Military, C-Loc, Papa Reu, 6-4, Ronnie Spencer, Big Steve and the Screwed Up Click which includes the likes of Lil' Keke, Fat Pat, Hawk, Big Moe, Al-D, Dat Boy Grace, Big Pokey, T-Pop, Botany Boys, Lil' O and E.S.G. This record remains as a highlight of the Screwed Up Click and one that can not be forgotten. Southside Playaz went on to release their next album, "Street Game" in 2000.

Sniper Unit is a group from Atlanta, GA. The two members are DJ Swift C and Big L. This dope album was released in 1996 on Ichiban Records. Production was mainly handled by Swift C and he did an excellent job. The beats are composed with some solid synths and samples. Both members can spit above average and are decent when they trade verses back to back. Featuring on the album is MC Breed, Cool Breeze, Backbone, T-Double, Hurricane and Sir Charles. Even though this record contains good material, it is still very slept on. The two members later returned in 2002 with the addition of Cool Breeze and their new alias, "The Calhouns."

Mr. 3-2 is a rapper from Houston, TX. He first started in 1991 with New Orleans rapper Big Mike. The duo released the self-titled album "Convicts" on Rap-A-Lot Records. After that Big Mike joined the Geto Boys for a short while and 3-2 went solo. Mr. 3-2 was also a affiliate of the legendary Screwed Up Click. Fatt Domino is his first real record release in many years. It was released in 2008 on Down South Records. Production was managed by Sics, Billy Cook and 3-2 himself. The beats maintain that deep fried southern twang and hit hard all through out the album. 3-2's lyrics are very laid back and smooth. His delivery has changed over the years but not much. He makes sure that his flow is still vivid and certainly gangsta. Featuring artists on the album are Spice 1, Hawk, Big Steve, Lil' O, Hershelwood Hardheadz, Swab, 24/7, Boo Flick, Trea and Jason Perry. Overall its a noteworthy release and a well accepted album from the Wicked Buddah Baby.

Cool Breeze is a rapper who represents out of East Point in Atlanta, GA. He is also a 1st generation member of the legendary, Dungeon Family. East Points Greatest Hit is his debut album and it was released in 1999 on Interscope Records. Production is done by the one and only Organized Noize along with Mr. DJ. The beats are extremely well crafted and are multi-layered with live instruments. The production team never disappoints and lays out the perfect platform for the artist. Breeze's delivery is very fresh and distinct. His profound lyrics showcase large amounts of clever word play while also being light on the ears. Featuring on the album is Outkast, Goodie Mob, Eightball, Kurupt, Witchdoctor, Sleepy Brown, Backbone, Nivea and The Calhouns. Although Breeze made numerous appearances for his label mates, this happens to be the only record released by him and it seems to be very promising both lyrically and musically.

Ghetto Souljahz is a group from Nashville, TN. It consists of Syco, Kazz, Lil' C and Mynd Ryte. Graveyard Shift was released in 1996 on Bottom Boy Records. Production was managed by Syco. He filled the G-Funk influenced beats with deep bass lines and solid rhythms. He also provides the mixing and scratching. All four members are adequate lyricist. Their rhymes are ruthless and violently themed. Featuring on the album is D-Smoov and Havoc & Prodeje of the South Central Cartel. Although this album is considered a rarity, it still does not disappoint with the underground content. The group fell apart in the late 90's due to creative differences and views on music. Years later Syco formed another group called Slimm Good.

First Born is a rapper from Nashville, TN. This was his jamming debut album and it was released in 1999 on Totally Independent Productions (T.I.P.) Production was done by the legendary Mannie Fresh along with Keith Falgout and Brian "Big Bass" Gardner. The beats are dope and can be strictly simplified as southern funk. Lyrics are impressive too. This youngster can certainly spit. His vocals are raw and uncut. They will most likely indulge the listener more with each upcoming track. Guest spots are made by Bun B of UGK, Young Buck of Psycho Drama, Willie D of the Geto Boys, Papa Reu, Pimpin' Ken, J.D., Jayo Felony, D-Tay, Joi, Greg Street and D-Smoov. This album is solid in and out, from the banging production to the exemplary lyrics and lastly, the commendable selection of featuring guests.

T-Rock - Conspiracy Theory

T-Rock is a rapper from Atlanta, GA. Hailing from the streets of College Park, he debuted with the underground album "Throw Yo Neighborhood Up" in 1996. That album got the attention of MC Mack, an affiliate of Three 6 Mafia. T-Rock was quickly signed to Hypnotize Minds at the age of only 17. He began working on his major label debut. Although he was always featured on albums from his label mates, his debut record was constantly delayed. This was the key reason for his departure from Hypnotize Minds. Conspiracy Theory was released in 2002 on Secret Service Entertainment. Production was done by T-Love and Mr. Navigator. The beats are straight fire and have the ability to bump in the trunk. T-Rock's flow is very original and fast paced. His tongue twisting lyrics also have a solid vocab. Featuring on the album is Area 51, Kingpin Skinny Pimp, Odd 1, J-Love, II Tone, Da Crime Click, Wylecat, Miss T. and C.I.A. T-Rock put together an amazing album which was definitely worth the wait. This record also contains the infamous diss track towards DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia.

Vicious - I Ball Like Kobe

Vicious also known as E. Vicious is a rapper from Lake Charles, LA. He was also a member in the group called, X-Mob. Vicious is a very versatile lyricist. His street dialect and rough tone is well known throughout the south. After a prison stint which took him away from music for several years, he returned with I Ball Like Kobe in 2002 on Par-La Records. Production was done by Dolby D, Gambeno, Ricky Diamonds and Wesley Stuart. The beats are top notch and they accommodate his flow well. Lyrics are undeniably as real as can be. His style of flow has not changed at all and he certainly lives up to his name. Featuring on the album is Pimp C of UGK, Cory Mo, E.S.G., K-Mac, P.O.P., Brandy, Hassan and Analyssa. Overall its an excellent comeback album and one that managed to slip through the cracks. Vicious is also a long time affiliate of the legendary Underground Kingz and has now inked a deal with UGK Records.

Big D and Icy Hott are rappers who represent from the neighborhood of Hiram Clarke in Houston, TX. Big D teamed up with the Street Military DJ and released this collaboration album in 2000 on V.I.P. Records. This was the only album released by the duo. Production is done by the one and only Icey Hott. He laced the beats with killer samples, solid bass lines and dope synths. Lyrics are straight but are just shy of impressive. These two are not really known for their lyrical artistry. The album's strong point could most possibly be it's production. Featuring artists are members of Street Military, Big Mello and K-Rino. Although this record might be hard to find, it still was a decent effort by the two and deserves an honorable mention.

Parental Advisory or P.A. is a group from Atlanta, GA. The three members are Big Reese, K.P. and Mello. They are also among the first members of the Atlanta based musical collective known as The Dungeon Family. P.A. debuted in 1993 with the album Ghetto Street Funk. After a five year hiatus, the trio released Straight No Chase in 1998 on Dreamworks Records. The amazing production was done by Tez, Pretty Ken, Rob Crawford and P.A. themselves. The beats are an impressive display of sample free music derived from live instruments and blended with full bodied funk and soul. This difficult and unorthodox method gives the group their own identity. All three members are gifted lyricist. Their rhymes are rich and filled with word play. Features are courtesy of Pimp C of UGK, Big Gipp of Goodie Mob, Sean Paul of Young Bloodz, Sleepy Brown, Esperanza and Mr. Mo. The combination of creative material on this record easily separates it from the rest. Parental Advisory released their third and final studio album in 2000 entitled "My Life, Your Entertainment."

Meen Green is a rapper/producer originally from Los Angeles, CA but later moved to Atlanta, GA. He was also part of the group called The Western Hemisfear. This album was released in 1998 on Patchwerk Recordings. Production was handled by Pimp C of UGK, Jazze Pha, DJ Herb, Swift C and Payback. The beats are derived to be very melodic and contain solid bass lines as well as some strong synths. The lyrics are quite good. Some tracks stand out more than others but overall it keeps the listener entertained.. Featuring on the album is Pimp C of UGK, Jazze Pha, Sonji, Mykill Miers and Nadirah Shakoor. Meen Green has worked with numerous artists from the south and west coast. Since the subject matter of this album was considered to be too much for the mainstream airwaves, this record remains as a well produced gem in the underground abyss.

4-2 Tha Dome is a duo from Birmingham, AL. The two rappers are Mr. Tre-8 and G-Money. This short five track album was released in 1995 on Herbal Records. Production is legit and is handled by Micheal Banks and Brian Fleming. The beats contain a mixture of hard hitting drums along with some melodic piano tunes. Both members can spit with ease. Their ruthless lyrics catch the beats really well. Blame It On Society certainly has the production and the lyrics favoring it but overall it just seems to fall a little short.

The beats are heavily southern funk influenced and do contain some very nice synths. The lyrics are dope as well. The two rappers contribute with hard rhymes and make sure the lyrics stay vicious. Overall the record manages to hold its own but it is still highly under rated and slept on.

The four members are Death Wish, Terror, Undertaker and Air Tite. Production on this dope 5 track album was done by Funky Sam. The beats are smooth and are laced with heavy amounts of southern funk. The lyrics are hard and strictly gangsta. All four members are lyrical and they easily express their skills. Although this album is very rare and short, it still doesn't excuse itself from the dope content.

Production was handled by DJ Tee, Ice Mike, Merrill "Real Roc" Robinson and Lokee. The beats are straight fire and contain some cryptic samples. Lyrics are very hardcore as well. His rhymes are eerie yet fast. They also hold solid amounts of word play. This album has one appearance and its by Magnolia Slim aka Soulja Slim. Lokee was always seemed ahead of his time. The production and the lyrics not only prove that but also show versatility and not to mention his own unique style which he likes to call Voodoo Gangsta Funk.

J-Dawg - Smokin' & Rollin'
J-Dawg is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. He is known for his violently themed fast paced style of flow. He is also one half of the group, Black Menace. This album was released in 1997 on Big Boy Records. Production was excellently done by the likes of Precise, Ice Mike and David Faulk. The beats are made to bang and they fit J's style perfectly. Lyrics are good and J-Dawg makes sure he provides them efficiently. Although at times it seems that he loses interest in his vocal arsenal because he resorts to simple word play and common rhyme schemes. Featuring artists on the record are Ice Mike, Che', Insane and Playboy Shaburnke (also known as Tim Smooth). In 2004, after 5 years of not making any music, J-Dawg released his "Greatest Hits" album on Big Boy Records. Then came the legal technicalities and other issues, mainly concerning royalties which ended the longtime partnership between J-Dawg and Big Boy Records. J was working diligently on his next project, which was considered to be his best work yet. In 2005, he lost everything he had due to Hurricane Katrina. Since then he has kept the fire burning for his music career and is currently working on his next album. Despite everything, J-Dawg will always be remembered as an originator, a hit maker and as an ice cold lyricist.

The Infamous X-Mann is a rapper from the northside of Houston, TX. He first started in 1995, when he joined the Trinity Garden Cartel. Back then he was known as X Da Hitman. He is also the founder of X-Werks Entertainment. X-Mann went on to release two albums with the group, TGC. This is his debut solo album and it was released in 1998 on X-Werks Entertainment. Production was done by Andre Foster and KG of the O.G.C. The beats are straight up Texas funk and contain nothing but solid bass lines and twangy synths. X was always known for his hard lyrics and street style. He certainly lives up to that reputation on this one. Featuring on the album is KG, K.I.D. of DSMC, Mr. Marl, Corey Davis and Ms. Lashea Crawford. This is another solid album from the former member of The Cartel. The raw force delivery and the variety of material makes this record very overwhelming from start to finish.

G-Rapp The General is a well known and respected producer from Houston, TX. He has worked with many underground artists from the city. Members of the S.P.C. and the Killa Klan have all paid homage to this man. His work is very genuine and he exemplifies his mastery of skills on every record or track he produces. This commemoration album was released in 2008 on Beatbox Records. The album was chopped & screwed by Beltway 8 Records. All the effects, and mixing are impeccable. Featuring on the album is Street Military, Z-Ro, Trae, Bam, Fakkulty, Gang Society and Mafia Genie. Military Mindz was a great compilation album by the legendary Killa Klan and one that deserves to be chopped & screwed by someone as worthy as Beltway 8.

D - Straight Texas Hoodlum

D is a rapper from Trinity Garden, which is located on the northside of Houston, TX. D and his longtime friend, J.F. started Cartel Records in the early 90's. D was also the leader of the infamous group, Trinity Garden Cartel. This album was released in 1995 on Cartel Records. Production was managed by the great Mike B and Loranzo Samuels while it is congenially mixed by the legendary, Mike Dean. Beats are straight up southern fried funk. They contain deep bass lines and some menacing hooks. D's flow is always original. His delivery is hard and his vile tone can be easily heard on every track. Featuring on the album is DMG and Reginald Hackett. Although D is in prison right now and is serving a 25 year sentence, this was by far one of the greatest albums ever released by him and Cartel Records. This record's rarity and under rated demeanor makes it one that should be coveted for its pure content.

Bosco Pooh is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. This album was released in 1995 on Pockets Filled Records. Production was handled by Master Mind Entertainment, which includes the likes of Booney, Preston Hunter, Sylvester Major and Matt Buras. The beats are heavily influenced by renditions of soul and jazz. The lyrics are certainly hardcore and Pooh's delivery is very assertive. Although this is a short album, it still contains quality content nonetheless. Very little is known about this artist. It is said that Bosco Pooh later changed his alias in the late 90's.

DJ DMD - Eleven

DJ DMD is an excellent rapper and producer from Port Arthur, TX. Eleven is the debut album by DMD and the Inner Soul Clique. It was released in 1997 on Inner Soul Records. Production was done by DJ DMD and Skip Holman. Thundering bass lines and solid samples are the foundation for all the beats. Lyrics are also very impressive. DMD and the numerous members of the Inner Soul Clique can wreck the microphone with ease. Featuring artists on the album are UGK, DJ Screw & the Screwed Up Click, Ronnie Spencer and the Inner Soul Clique which consists of Blue Lite, Lee Masta, Bull, Momo, Lil' Wink and Boonie Locc. This album also contains two versions of the infamous track "So Real." One has DJ Screw and Al-D on it while the other one is a remix which has Fat Pat, Lil' Keke, Mike D, C-Note of the Botany Boys with Screw attending to the turntables. A very commendable album overall especially for being a debut. DJ DMD went on and released the album "Twenty-Two: P.A. World Wide" in 1998 and concluded with "Thirty-Three: Live From Hiroshima" in 2001. DJ DMD was a member in the group called The Original Point Blank and is also well known respected affiliate of the infamous Underground Kingz.
