Wreckless Klan - Blowin' Up Tha Scene

Wreckless Klan is a group from Houston, TX. The three members are Point Blank, Ice Lord and PSK-13. This was the group's only album and was released in 1996 on Bigtyme Recordz. Production on this record is done by the magnificent Bruce "Grim Reaper" Rhodes. He is assisted by the likes of DJ Blast and Marlin Demby. The beats are hard hitting and are also backed up by killer rhymes. Features on the album are from Klondike Kat and Maré Jayne. This group is also affiliated with the South Park Coalition (S.P.C.). The album was dedicated in the memory of Point Blank's younger brother. Rest in peace .38.

5th Ward Boyz - Rated G

5th Ward Boyz is a group from Houston, TX. Straight out of 5th Ward, the three members are 007, E-Rock and Lo-Life. This is their third album and was released in 1995 on Rap-A-Lot Records. Production on this record is done by the legendary Mike Dean and Pimp C of UGK. Hardcore southern fried beats and gangster rhymes is what you will find on this record. Features on the album are from UGK and Flesh-N-Bone of Bone Thugz & Harmony. Rated G is a very under rated and slept on record. This album has that deep dark sound that Rap-A-Lot and Houston is famous for.

Tyght Wayz - Mo' Mail

Tyght Wayz is a group from New Iberia, LA. The four members are Ganksta Mac, Big Curb, Cash Flo and Phatt Daddy. They first started in 1995, rapping locally in the clubs in Louisiana. This is their second album. It was released in 1998 on Top Authority Records. Production on this record was done by Ganksta Mac himself. The beats are enjoyable and also contain various elements that keep them very Southern in nature. Lyrics are also dope and each member seems more than capable upon the microphone. Their styles compliment each other really well and their rhymes are pretty jubilant for the most part. Guest appearances are made by Pahnub, Young D-Ray, Chris Curley, E-Locc and P.J. The album also has two tracks that are Chopped & Screwed which are a treat to listen to especially when considering the fact that the record is from Louisiana and not Texas.

Psycho Ward - www.Psychoward.com

Psycho Ward is a super group from the notorious city of New Orleans, LA. The group is well over twenty members deep but the main ones are Blaknificent, E.F. Cuttin, Raj Smoove, Mac "Da Camouflage Assassin," Coola, Stress, One Eye, Chill, King Solemn-One, Karamello, Paul J, B-Style, Brainstorm, Black Plague, Kool Breeze, Toppa, and last but not least, Anon. This is their debut album and it was released in 1997 on Dust Em Off Recordings (D.E.O.). The production was done by The Tribunal which basically consists of Raj Smoove, Blaknificent and E.F. Cuttin. The beats are all well crafted and carry a very distinct sound. They are very melodic and really seem to be a perfect fit for the group. The rhymes are certainly unique and they happen to have an east coast sound to them. Each member is more than capable on the microphone and can deliver their lyrics with a lot of passion and energy. Also worth noting is that the core content differs from your typical Louisiana record and definitely stands out from the rest, especially lyrically.

Mr. Sleep - Land Of The Breathers

Mr. Sleep is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. He is known to have close ties with the infamous Young Gangstas as well as Murder Inc.  He first appeared on the album "Pre-Meditated Gangstarism" by Young Gangstas in the year 1995. After a long five year hiatus from the rap game, he returned with Land Of The Breathers in 2000 on Breather Life Records. Production on this record is done by Ezell Swang, Wydell and Mr. Sinister. The beats are on point but Sleep's lyrical flow has changed quite a bit since his last outing. Featuring artists on the album are Big Ed, Mr. Sinister, Graveyard Soldjas, Scandalous, Lyric and Legend Man & Crazy of Murder Inc. Overall its valiant effort by the Iberville native and one that manages to slip through the cracks.

Face Forever - World Of Crime

Face Forever is a group from New Orleans, LA. The members are J.S. and Red Money. This is their second album and was released in 1996 on Ruff Era Records. This record is straight gangsta. The beats are dope as hell and lyrics are rough. Features are done by Crazy & Legend Man of Murder Inc. and Stress. A music video was also recorded for the song Rollin' in my ride. This is considered a very rare album and its also the last one released by Face Forever.

Guerilla Maab - Rise

Guerilla Maab is a rap group from Houston, TX. The original members are Z-Ro, Trae, Dougie D and Taz. Later on they were reduced to a trio group when Taz stepped away from the music scene. Rise is their debut album and it was released in 1999 on Resurrection Music Group. This is G-Maab at their raw and uncut beginnings. Production is done by Rakesh "Roc" Jacob and Z-Ro. This record really stands out in the lyrical content. All four members have smooth yet rapid flows. Featuring artists are Hawk, Cl' Che, Peaches and Will Lean of the Botany Boys. This group is also affiliated with the legendary Killa Klan and the invincible Screwed Up Click.

PSK-13 - Born Bad?

PSK-13 is a rapper from Mo' City in Houston, TX. He is a member of the Wreckless Klan and the South Park Coalition (S.P.C.). This was his sophomore effort. It was released in 1997 on Bigtyme Recordz. Production was handled by Pimp C of UGK, Precise, J.B. Money and DJ Blast. The beats are laced with smooth southern funk. PSK's lyrics are nice and they complement his gangsta sound. Featuring guests on the album are UGK, Ghetto Twinz, Ice-T, Klondike Kat, Wreckless Klan and 20-2-Life. This is a very solid release from Bigtyme Recordz.

Half Dead Organization is group from Houston, TX. They represent out of Mo' City. The four members are J.P., Smittyroe, Foe and Wood. This self titled album was released in 2000 on Johnny Palmer Entertainment. Each member has a unique flow that goes perfect together. The beats on this record are way too cold. If you are a fan of hardcore gangsta rap like Street Military, Fakkulty, Z-Ro, Bam, etc. You will enjoy this album. Features are from J-Bone, Brandi, Lil' Devil, Aisha, Mike and Mrs. Smith. This record is all about rough street rhymes and lyrical ghetto tales that bring the struggle and pain to light.

Trinity Garden Cartel - Don't Blame It On Da Music

Trinity Garden Cartel is a group from the northside of Houston, TX. The members in the group are D, Gangsta Gee and Herb Mann. This controversial album was released in 1994 on Rap-A-Lot Records. The government banned the album due to photographs of Houston Police being portrayed in a negative way and because of its lyrical content. Despite the fact that it was banned, the record still managed to sell over one hundred thousand units. Production on this album was done by Mike Dean and Mike B. The G-Funk beats and samples give this record a west coast feel. Lyrics are straight up gangsta flows. All in all its a great gangsta rap album and one that's not to be slept on.

Blac Monks - Secrets Of The Hidden Temple

Blac Monks is a group from Houston, TX. The three members are 3-2, D.A. and Awol. This is their debut album. It was released in 1995 on Rap-A-Lot Records. It was produced by Mike Dean, Bido 1 and DJ Ready Red. They straight blessed this record with bass bumping melodic tunes and killer samples. The lyrics are also on point. Each member can wreck the mic with ease. There are no wack songs on this record. You could jam this all the way through. Intro to outro. Features on the album are by 5th Ward Juveniles, Big Low, Raheem, Ophtrac, Goldie Don and Makesha. This album is also mentioned in the top ten Rap-A-Lot albums of all time.

X-Mob - Ghetto Mail

X-Mob is a group from Lake Charles, LA. The members are E. Vicious, Bundy and Slice. This is their second album. It was released in 1995 on Par-Le Records. The production was handled by two legends from the South, Pimp C of UGK and DJ Mannie Fresh. The beats don't get any better than this. Smooth, hard hitting southern funk. Lyrics are straight fire. Each member has a distinct flow. Specially E. Vicious, he stands out the most in the group. This album only has one feature and its from Pimp C. X-Mob released their final album in 1997 and then broke up. Member E. Vicious went forward with a solo career.

B.G. - Chopper City

B.G. is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. His name stands for Baby Gangsta. This was his solo debut. It was released in 1996 on Cash Money Records. At the time of this album's recording, B.G. was only 15 years of age. He was full of uncut dope lyrics. The production and beats were provided by none other than the great Mannie Fresh. Features on the album are by Bun B of UGK, Mac, Juvenile, Ms. Tee, Big Tymers, Keisha and Bullet. This album is B.G.'s most lyrical album and is also considered a southern classic.

Bam is a rapper from Houston, TX. This was his debut album. It was released in 1995 on his own record label, X-Bam Records. He is also a member of the South Park Coalition and the Killa Klan. Bam's delivery is something vicious. His flow is simply just rough and raw. All 17 tracks on this album are top notch. This record was produced by G-Rapp. He did a superb job with the beats. Appearances on this album are from Pharoah, Lil' Flea, K.B. Da Kidnappa of Street Military, Fakkulty, Klondike Kat, Burton Boyz, Quannel X and Montina Cooper. This record is truly amazing and is also regarded as one of the best records to come out of Texas.

2 Real is a rap group from Houston, TX. The two members are actually brothers who are under the aliases as Lil' V (Vinnie Valentine) and Lil' D (Mr. Everline). This group is also affiliated with the legendary Killa Klan and the South Park Coalition. This is their debut album and it was released in 1997 on Crunk Records. Production on this record was done by Icey Hott of Street Military, DJ Storm, D-Red of the Botany Boys and Jay Da Sinnusta. The beats are unforgiving and are straight out of gangster territory. The Lyrics, hooks and samples are all tight as well. Their rhymes portray a lot of realism and also happen to be very versatile. Featuring artists on the album are Klondike Kat, J-Bone, Brandi and Lil' Flea of Street Military. Mr. Everline is also the leader of local collective known as the $tack Pack.

Big Mike - Somethin' Serious

Big Mike is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. He started off with Houston rapper 3-2 in a group called Convicts. His next appearance was with the Geto Boys. He was brought in the group to replace Willie D for the 1993 album Till Death Do Us Part. He then began his solo career. Somethin' Serious was released in 1994 on Rap-A-Lot Records. Production on this record was done by Pimp C of UGK, Mike Dean, Bido 1 and N.O. Joe. This album is something serious indeed. The Beats are banging and smooth at the same time. Mike's lyrics are very nice and are on point. Even though this album was released in 1994, it doesn't sound like it. It is really ahead of its time. Appearances on the album are by Scarface, UGK, Billy Cook, A-Dogg and Lester Tone. This album is a must have.

Black Menace - Drama Time

Black Menace is a group from New Orleans, LA. The two members are J-Dawg and Threat. This album was released in 1995 on Big Boy Records. Production on this record was done by Precise, so you know its hot. You will find plenty of raw fast paced rhymes and tight beats on this joint. Featuring Guests on the album are Mystikal, Fiend, G-Slimm and Ghetto Twinz. This album is very sought after by fans and is also considered one of the best albums released by Big Boy Records.

Criminal Elament - Hit 'Em Where It Hurt

Criminal Elament is a group from the northside of Houston, TX. The members are June Bugg, Lil' 5th, Ice Water Slaughter, Ice Picc, Lil' Rascal and DJ Free. This is their debut album and it was released in 1994 on Dead Game Records. This is a short release but still tight nonetheless. DJ Free did an excellent job producing the beats on this record. Group members also contributed with commendable lyrics and complex flows. Criminal Elament went on to release one more album in 1996 and eventually split up. Some of the members also have solo records.

Crime Boss is a rapper from Houston, TX. This is his debut album. It was released in 1995 on Suave Records. Crime Boss is known for his hard lyrics and gangster delivery. This album is full of that deep fried, twangy southern funk. The record was produced by T-Mixx, who is a great producer. Featuring guests on the album are label mates Eightball & MJG and South Circle. Overall this is a typical gangsta album with dope lyrics and G-Funk style beats.

Street Military - Don't Give A Damn

Street Military is a group from Houston, TX. The members are Pharoah, Icey Hott, K.B. Da Kidnappa, Lil' Flea and Nutt (R.I.P.). This is their third album and it was released in 1993 on Wild Pitch Records. The most intriguing thing about this group is that each member represents from a different neighborhood in Houston. Icey Hott is from Hiram Clarke, Lil' Flea is from Ridgemont 4 in Missouri City, Pharoah is from South Park and K.B. is from Trinity Gardens. They came together from all the different sides of town and formed a group that would go down in underground history. Along with that, each member brings their own style and flavor to the table. Pharoah has the fast paced tongue twisting flow, K.B. is raw and aggressive, Lil' Flea is all about word play and Icey Hott is the in-house DJ/producer of all their songs and albums. The beats on this album are sick and so are the lyrics. Also there is a feature from Klondike Kat. If one is sleeping on this group, then one is sleeping on Houston. Most people have heard the "Swang & Bang" music that comes out of H-Town, its now time to notice the real side of Houston Rap.

Gang Society - G's Till We Die

Gang Society is a group from Houston, TX. The members are E-Sharp, N-Sane, C-Major and Red Amp. Each member brings a unique style to the table. This is their debut album and it was released in 1995 on NewStyle Records. Production is handled by DJ Storm "The Funky Aztec," Enoc and Doug King This record is considered by many to be a classic in H-Town and is quite hard to find. The group is also affiliated with the legendary Killa Klan. Gang Society went on to release one more album in 1999 and then eventually broke up.

Critical Condition - CC Waterbound

Critical Condition is a group from Morgan City, LA. The three members are Will Chill, Money and Tech. This album was released in 1997 on Starvin' Artists Entertainment. The production is done by Pimp C of UGK and Mo B. Dick of Beats By The Pound. The beats are a pleasure to listen to because they are a perfect example of southern funk. The trio is quite capable lyrically. Their rhymes are pretty ruthless and know no boundaries. Guest appearances are made by UGK, Dolby D, Grimm, Aldon X, Shorty and Mo B. Dick. This was the group’s second album and it was one that surpassed expectations. Sadly, all the members are now locked up for various reasons and are facing some lengthy fed time.

L.O.G. - Camouflaged Down

L.O.G. is an excellent rapper and producer from New Orleans, LA. He is also a member of Raw II Survive as well as the bounce group known as the, Bally Boyz. Camouflaged Down was released in 1997 on Untouchable Records. Production is done with precision and perfection by Merrill "Real Roc" Robinson, T-Bone and Mista Sinista. The beats are classic N.O. beats that really bang. They carry loads of instruments and are also blended beautifully. The lyrics are just exceptional. L.O.G.'s style is certainly unique and refreshing. His pace is pretty quick for the most part while the word play is entertaining. Features are courtesy of Fila Phil, Lokee, S.A.C. Mafia, Charlie Hanseen, Yada, Crip, Lil Newthy and Ms. Tee. This record does not need a introduction or a description due to the legacy it left behind. It is also regarded as one of the best albums to have come out of the Boot State.

Gangsta Pat - Deadly Verses

Gangsta Pat is rapper from Memphis, TN. He is known for his quick pace and hardcore flow. He established himself in the underground scene during the late 1980's. Pat is also one of the first rap artists from the city to make the move from an underground label to a major one. This was his fourth album and was released in 1995 on Traid Records. It has features from Memphis natives Psycho and Tha Villain. Although its a short album, it is still very good. Gangsta Pat never gained the notoriety nor the success like his Memphis rap peers, since then he has returned to the underground rap scene and is viewed by Memphis rappers as one of the many pioneers to Memphis rap.

Z-Ro - Look What You Did To Me

Z-Ro is a rapper from Houston, TX. He is from the neighborhood of Ridgemont 4 in Missouri City also known as Mo' City. Z-Ro is a member of the Screwed Up Click (S.U.C.), South Park Coalition (S.P.C.), Guerilla Maab, Assholes By Nature (A.B.N.) and last but not least the Killa Klan. This was his debut album and it was released in 1998 on Fisherboy Records. Features on this record are from Trae, Bam, Fakkulty, Chris Ward and Taz. Although this album is straight fire, it never gained him any fame. Z-Ro's style of flow is very similar to Pharoah's. It is so similar that sometimes its creepy. Raw tongue twisting lyrics over hard hitting beats is always a winning combination.

G-Slimm is rapper from New Orleans, LA. This was released in 1994 on Big Boy Records. This album is produced by Precise, who gave it a Southern fried/West Coast feel with live instruments and guitar licks. The beats on this album suit his flow really well. G-Slimm's lyrics can change speeds. He can spit laid back and relaxed or he can spit fast. Features on here are courtesy of Mystikal & Black Menace. This album gained a lot of exposure and brought success to Big Boy Records and G-Slimm. Sadly, he was killed in 1996. Rest in peace G-Slimm.

K.B. & Lil' Flea - A Frightening Portrait Of The World In A Violent Time

K.B. Da Kidnappa & Lil' Flea are rappers from Houston, TX. Lil' Flea is from the neighborhood of Ridgemont 4 (Southside) and Kidnappa is from Trinity Garden (Northside). They are also in the group Street Military. This album was released in 1997 on X-Bam Records. Production on this record was handled by Scarface, T-Mixx & MJG. This is a very solid album. Lyrics are deep and the beats are heavy. K.B.'s flow is aggressive and raw while Lil' Flea is more focused towards rhyming and word play. Put them two together and you got a killer combination. Appearances on the album are from Pharoah, Klondike Kat, Icey Hott, Papa Reu, Fakkulty & Ronnie Spencer. This album is definitely worth a listen and it does not disappoint.

Legend Man is a rapper from New Orleans, LA. He is also a member of the infamous rap group known as Murder, Inc. Pressure & Pain is his debut solo album and it was released in 1997 on Ruff Era Records. The beats on this record are simply amazing and are provided by the masterful Edward J. West. Legend's delivery on the microphone is something serious. His fast paced rhymes and intricate word play are a feat to listen to. Guest features are done by Crazy, Mr. Sinister, Demon and Face Forever. Overall the whole album is put together very nicely, from the first cut to the last. Sadly, this was his only solo effort to date.

Ice Lord - Now Who Dat

Ice Lord is a rapper originally from New Orleans, LA but later moved to Houston, TX around the year, 1995. He has resided there ever since and ended up becoming a member of the South Park Coalition (S.P.C.) as well as the notorious spin off group known as the Wreckless Klan. This is his debut album and it was released in 2000 on Bigtyme Recordz. The production is handled by Thug Dirt, J.B. Money and Mike B. The beats are pretty good and are blended quite nicely. Ice Lord manages to hold his own on the microphone despite the hefty guest appearances. Artists featuring on this album are Klondike Kat, Point Blank, PSK-13, Gangsta Mac, Zayne and Snik Nik. Even though this release is straight form the underground, it can still be held up against any mainstream release.

Murder Inc. - Playin' For Keeps

Murder Inc. is a group from New Orleans, LA. The group consists of Crazy, Legend Man, MC L and the female emcee known as Alamo. Playin' For Keeps is their debut album and it was released in 1995 on Hard Head Records. Production is provided by Precise, Cazel, Jazz, Legend Man, Roland and Goldfingers. The beats carry a darker southern sound and all the melodies jam equally. Each member in the group has their own unique lyrical flow. Some adapt to a faster pace while other are more focused on word play. This album is considered by many to be one of the best albums to represent New Orleans, Louisiana. Murder Inc. went on to release one more album as a group and then split up. Members Crazy, Legend Man, and M.C. L all have solo records as well.

Pharoah - Six Foot Giant

Pharoah is a rapper from the notorious neighborhood of South Park in Houston, TX. He is a member of Street Military and is also the founder of the legendary Killa Klan. He is regarded by many to be one of the sickest rappers to have emerged from Houston's underground. His flow is straight raw and is delivered with a fast paced tongue twisting style. This is his debut solo album and it was released in 1997 on Beatbox Records. Production was done by Icey Hott, G-Rapp and Klondike Kat and it fits Pharoah like a glove. Featuring on the album are the Burton Boyz. Pharoah is currently incarcerated for armed robbery and attempted murder. He is serving a hefty fifty year sentence. Although now some say that he lost his mind due to smoking a ton of PCP but when he was in his prime, he was a runaway freight train that was impossible to stop.

Fakkulty - Southern Hostility

Fakkulty is a group from the vicious streets of Houston, TX. The four members in the group are Kook, Malek Aleem, Lil' V, and Water Boy. The group is also affiliated with S.P.C. (South Park Coalition) and the Killa Klan. This album was released in 1996 on X-Bam Records. Production was done by Danny Jackson, Doc Doom, Ronald Smith, Rodney Ex and Sinclair. The beats are simply amazing and so are the lyrics. Appearances are by K.B. Da Kidnappa & Lil' Flea of Street Military, Papa Reu, Vonda Hubbard, and Ray Sauls. This is one of the most slept on albums one will ever come across. Also the text written on the album cover is written in Greek and it reads, "Those that break the rules. Dare to deny authority. Educate the street and strengthen the weak."
