Philmac - P-Funk

Philmac is a boldly talented rapper and producer originally from Birmingham, AL. He has also held residence in Atlanta, GA. P-Funk is his debut album and it was released in 1998 on Phunky Entertainment. All the groovy production is provided by Philmac himself and he uses his signature style on each track. He basically hand played each instrument and earned the title as the one man band. The beats are an ensemble of funky guitar licks, ingenious keyboarding and menacing drums. That alone gives the record an exclusively canny southern feel. The lyrics don't fall short either. His tone is gratifyingly laid back but the delivery happens to be actively fast paced. The rhymes are thoroughly complex while also being genuinely lyrical. The album contains an amiable collection of fourteen tracks and all of them are equally marvelous. The subject matter is also boasted through a wide range of topics. Overall the record is a fine representation of the southern genre and it is fully compelling. It is also a polished work of art that is achieved with sheer hard work and dedication. It was later re-released in the year, 2008. Philmac is currently in the process of working on his sophomore album which is appropriately titled as "The Prince."

Thank you for reviewing my album QDawg and for the generous comments. I'm currently working on my new album "The Prince" and I hope you like it as well. Its been 10 years since I've put out an album so its gonna be an evolved Philmac but hopefully better: more live instrumentation, original flows and musical styling. My main goal is to create a hip hop album that no one has ever heard before including myself. Its time for hip hop to evolve and expand into different sounds and subject matter and thats what I'm trying to push on the new record. The album is a metaphor for the fact that I'm a newcomer to the music scene and establishing my "kingdom" into the music scene. Also the goal is to import wisdom to the listener as to the steps and motivations of a "prince" to establish his empire or to have success in this world. My inspiration for the album are the books "The Prince" and "48 Laws of Power". Long story short I'm not putting it out until its a classic.

Hi Thalgk, QDawg, base monster: Thanks for all or your support! Given coronavirus shelter-in-place I'm considering doing a Instagram Live Stream Concert where I perform the "P-Funk" album in entirety. I'm gauging interest in something like this. Would you guys be interested in attending it? Thanks, Philmac.
