DBX - Dragon Klan

DBX is a rapper from the infamous neighborhood of South Park in Houston, TX. He is a member of the South Park Coalition and has been with them since the early nineties. DBX and Ruff Eyque are also the originators of the group known as "Section A." Over the years DBX just made cameo appearances on other S.P.C. albums. In 2003 he decided to release this full length debut album on Full Circle Entertainment. As always the majority of the production is handled by Dope-E of The Terrorists. The beats tend to be typical and very simple, although some tracks do stand out. Tunes seem to be a bit off and the harmony is not quite there. The tracks are mediocre at best. DBX is sufficient as a lyricist, though at times he does seem to impress a little bit. Street savvy tales and relentless subjects are the main course for this entry. X is one of those artists who excel when given a feature or cameo but can't really sustain that level of energy when given a complete solo. Guest spots are courtesy of K-Rino, Klondike Kat, Point Blank, A.C. Chill, Ruff Eyque, K-Water, and Texas Tech. Overall a decent effort by the South Park native but it won't take home any awards. Especially when competing against other members of the Coalition and their projects. With that being said the record is still an uncanny underground piece so shortcomings are somewhat expected.

Klondike Kat - The Lyrical Lion

Klondike Kat - The Lyrical Lion
Klondike Kat is a pioneer of underground rap from Houston, TX. He possesses a tremendous amount of lyrical talent and charisma. He is also an avid singer as well as a renowned producer. Over the years he has been lending his skills to the likes of the South Park Coalition and the legendary Killa Klan. The Lyrical Lion is his debut album and it was released in 1993 on Beatbox Records. Production is provided by Dope-E of The Terrorists, Keenan Lyles, J Reble and Klondike Kat. The beats are a synthetic blend of early 90's gangsta rap. They rely heavily on the 808 with minor keyboards. Although the rhythms might sound dated, the fact that they are magnificently composed and mixed cannot be denied. The lyrics are made up of the same caliber. Kat crushes the mic with an onslaught of vile rhymes. He brilliantly displays his lyrical flair, track after track. Not to mention his dope story telling ability and the deeply rooted choruses. Featuring on the album are members of the infamous S.P.C. That roster includes K-Rino, Point Blank, PSK-13, A.C. Chill, Dope-E, Aftamath, Kyu-Boi, Bullet, K.O., Triple X, Reload, Black Capone and Bubba Trouble. The album also contains the near ten minute clique anthem known as the "Murder Script." Overall the record is a bit shy with only seven tracks but all of them are equally superior. The South Park Coalition is responsible for being mentors to many present and up coming artists from Texas. Even though, one wont find them or Klondike Kat on the front page cover of a well established magazine, their devotion and love for the underground still remains persistent.

He honed his skills and became a pure lyricist as well as a talented producer. This is debut album and it was released in 2004 on Johnny Palmer Entertainment. The production is done by Black Mike along with some help from Dope-E of The Terrorists. They provide a solid foundation using multiple instruments. The beats are dark to some extent but are mostly up tempo. Mike displays his raw vocals on just about every track. His attack on the mic is something vicious and it is one that should definitely be heard. Guest appearances are made by Z-Ro, B-1, III, Lil' Will and Scotty P. Overall the record was a valiant effort and it contains a lengthy collection of choice tracks. It is also a strict representation of the underground and it does not dissatisfy. Black Mike is currently working on his sophomore album called, "The Hand That Feeds You."

He debuted in 1993 with the album, "The Lyrical Lion." Mobbin' Muzik Melodies is his sophomore effort and it was released in 1997 on Beatbox Records. Production on the album is managed by Icey Hott of Street Military, Mo' Dangerous, Stro, Richard Johnson and Klondike Kat. The beats are assembled with twangy guitars, an ample amount of bass and forceful synths. The array of tracks are soundly mixed and they carry the album especially well. Kat can deliver his rhymes with an approximate sense of ease. His style is unique and his verses flourish with broad subjects. He possesses a vivid vocabulary and leisurely displays it on every ballad. Along with that, he boldly sings most of the hooks and choruses. Guest appearances are made by members of the Killa Klan and the South Park Coalition. That include the likes of Pharoah, Icey Hott, Lil' Flea, Burton Boyz, Fakkulty, K-Rino, Dope-E, Point Blank, Ganksta NIP, Ice Lord, PSK-13, A.C. Chill, Blunt, Jam, Big 20 and Felony. The album also contains two notorious cuts that have ever graced a record. One of them is an eight minute long anthem of the superior Killa Klan known as, "Loc'ed Out Drop Top." The other is a nine minute long S.P.C. tribute, which happens to be the next installment to the original "Murder Script." All in all the record can simply be justified as a melodic classic. Klondike Kat showcases his capability as a pure artist and he certainly provides the underground with a complete masterpiece.

Dean - The State Of Texas Vs. Dean

Dean - The State Of Texas Vs. Dean
Dean is a rapper from Houston, TX. He is also affiliated with the South Park Coalition and he ended up being known for his devastating flow. This is his debut album and it was silently released in 2007 on Wreckless Entertainment. Production on the record is excellently done by Dope-E of The Terrorists. The beats exemplify every aspect of the southern region. They are laced with killer hooks along with equally dope samples. The lyrics alone set the album apart from others. Rhymes are full of controversial wisdom and prolific word play. They are delivered quickly and emphatically. Appearances are made by K-Rino, K.B. Da Kidnappa of Street Military, Point Blank, Dougie D of the Guerilla Maab, Dirty Red, D-T, Shonda, Russ G, Diesel, Badd Azz and Esincho. The whole album is put together very resoundingly and it can easily be labeled as one of a kind. Also, the significant content is superior to radio waves and can strictly be considered as one hundred percent underground.

Production is split between Verno, Dope-E of the Terrorists and Icey Hott of Street Military. The end result is an assortment of fabulously arranged yet strictly southern tracks. Features on the album are courtesy of K-Rino, Lil' V of the Fakkulty, Icey Hott of Street Military, B-1, Freestyle Dre, Mac, Soulja, Drank, Anthony Kizzee, K1, Meta Knight and Fatman. C4's work has been influenced by many artists from Houston and this record certainly proves that. Along with that, he keeps the main content rough and rugged. Overall its a very powerful and compelling record which sets the example bar high and brings a much welcomed change in the watered down rap industry of today.

The 144 Elite - Agreeables +Vs- Disagreeables

The 144 Elite is a group that represents from the southside of Houston, TX and is comprised with members of the South Park Coalition. The group is led by the legendary K-Rino and consists of Dope-E, Justice Allah, MJ and the female emcee/singer, Mayadia. This is their debut album and it was released in 2007 on Black Book International. Production is effectively done by Dope-E and he sticks to his South Park roots. He is assisted by DJ Kong, G. Sharp and Ditch Music. Together, they provide nothing but solid tracks, back to back. The beats are mostly composed of simple synths and also show signs of light sampling. The lyrics are an eclectic mix of street rhymes and conscious flows. A good balance of higher level thinking is presented through out the record. Featuring artists are Klondike Kat, Kuwait, Soul Provider, Ranus, DirtChile and Mr. Mon. Although the album is a perfect blend of musical flavor and the group easily defies categorization, it could not garner much attention. Also the name of the group is derived from the Bible Revelations 14:3.
