Livin' Illegal is a duo from the south side of Houston, TX. It consists of two members whom are under the aliases, G-Down and Gangsta Slim. The two met at a local high school and quickly became fond of each others rapping ability. They ended up being discovered by Anthony Johnson and Married To The Game was released in 1997 on Hollow Point Records. It is produced mainly by Bruce "Grim Reaper" Rhodes and Will-B-Fresh while Icey Hott and G-Lee help out on a couple of tracks. The production is top notch southern funk to say the least. Groovy guitar licks meshed with edgy synths and a good dose of bass are incorporated into each track. The cuts flow very smoothly and also blend effortlessly with each other. The duo take full advantage of what is laid out for them and take turns displaying their vocal arsenal. Rhymes are filled with word play and certainly come off with an aggressive nature. The tone is definitely set at rough and it helps to steer the project. The two members make sure they give it their all on the microphone and leave the studio booth with no regrets. Guest appearances are made by MC Thick, Icey Hott and K.B. Da Kidnappa of Street Military. All in all this record tends to be a prime example of where the label held the producers and the artists accountable for the final output. It exemplifies a genuine product which is delivered through hard work and determination. Although this release dwells in the depths of the underground it still deserves a listen and a honorable mention.

Texas Made is a compilation disc that was released in 2000 by Fat Texas Records who are primarily based out of Dallas, TX. Michael Lopez is the CEO of the label and Michael Cardenas is his right hand man. This is their second release. The first one being "Family Tactics." Since this is a compilation, a gang of producers were used to make this project noteworthy. The beats are courtesy of Icey Hott of Street Military, KG, Avery Jones, Rebel, and Crank. The producers do a good job by providing that Texas style funk fused with that hard underground sound. A few tracks can be tossed out but for the most part all of them equally jam. Lyrics are done by K.B. Da Kidnappa & Icey Hott of Street Military, 3-2, Big Tee, Lil' Sen, Rebel, Tony Montana, Keys, J-Duce, Villian, Relentless Mafia, Miss Asia, and Carla McQueen. The pack of rappers listed above make sure they keep the lyrics very roguish. They team up with each other and start to pass the mic around. A good chunk of the track list really stands out while there are a few fillers. Also, all the tracks on this album have never been on any other album. Meaning tracks were precisely recorded just for this compilation so the material is at least genuinely fresh and not out dated. Overall it is a reputable effort but one that somehow went unnoticed. Fat Texas Records are defunct now but they will always be remembered and respected in the underground.

X-Bam Records was a record label from Houston, TX. It was founded by Bam in the mid 90's. The label served as a home to many members of the notorious Killa Klan. It was later shut down due to financial issues. The Classics is basically a compilation album that was released in 2007 on One Stop Entertainment. The record is magnificently produced by the likes of Scarface, T-Mixx, MJG, Icey Hott of Street Military, G-Rapp The General, Doc Doom and Rodney Ex. The beats are a perfect blend of rhytmical synths and sublime bass lines. They represent that classic underground sound that Houston was known for. The lyrics are abstract, yet rough. They contain various word schemes as well as some rapid inflections. The rhymes are courtesy of the Fakkulty, Pharoah, Bam, K.B Da Kidnappa, Lil' Flea, Papa Reu, Ronnie Spencer and Montina Cooper. Overall its a 17 track album that is fine picked and is derived from many underground hits. It also commemorates the legacy left behind by the legandary Killa Klan. In the words of the invincible Pharoah, "....salute the double K's."

C4 is a rapper straight out of Missouri City, TX. He has been in the business for many years and he came up with the likes of the Fakkulty, Street Military and Z-Ro to just name a few. He is known for his excellent timing and remarkable delivery. He debuted in 2005 with the album "Evolution Of The Live Wire." This is his third album and it was released in 2008 on The Bomb Fakktory. Production is split between Verno, Dope-E of the Terrorists and Icey Hott of Street Military. The end result is an assortment of fabulously arranged yet strictly southern tracks. The catchy beats carry multiple instruments and they definitely become a sensation to listen to. His lyrics are a broad showcase of raw and gritty rhymes and he delivers them immaculately at a sensible speed. Features on the album are courtesy of K-Rino, Lil' V of the Fakkulty, Icey Hott of Street Military, B-1, Freestyle Dre, Mac, Soulja, Drank, Anthony Kizzee, K1, Meta Knight and Fatman. C4's work has been influenced by many artists from Houston and this record certainly proves that. Along with that, he keeps the main content rough and rugged. Overall its a very powerful and compelling record which sets the example bar high and brings a much welcomed change in the watered down rap industry of today.

This is one of the many mixtapes he has released in the underground. School Zone 5 M.P.H. dropped in 2000 on Bayou City Records. Icey Hott provides all the production along with his choice style of turntableism. He excellently rips through all the mixing, cutting and chopping. Some of the beats are borrowed from other artists but most of them are original. Lyrics consists of live freestyles, unreleased cuts and tight versatile flows. Featuring on the mixtape is Pharoah of Street Military, Klondike Kat of the South Park Coalition, Big D and Mafia Genie of the Killa Klan. Icey Hott has appeared on numerous records from the south and he continues his assault on the rap game with the release of his mixtapes. He is currently working on tracks for Lil' Flea's debut solo album.

Records. This was the only album released by the duo. Production is done by the one and only Icey Hott. He laced the beats with killer samples, solid bass lines and dope synths. Lyrics are straight but are just shy of impressive. These two are not really known for their lyrical artistry. The album's strong point could most possibly be it's production. Featuring artists are members of Street Military, Big Mello and K-Rino. Although this record might be hard to find, it still was a decent effort by the two and deserves an honorable mention.

Icey Hott is a rapper and producer from the infamous neighborhood of Hiram Clarke in Houston, TX. He is a member in the group, Street Military and as well as the Killa Klan. This was his solo effort and it was released in 1999 on High Power Records. All the production was done by Icey Hott himself. The beats are pretty tight and Icey Hott provides his signature production pattern. Lyrics are also very good and blend in really nicely with the beats. Featuring guests on the album are Pharoah, Lil' Flea & K.B. Da Kidnappa of Street Military, Malek & Kook of Fakkulty, Z-Ro, South Park Mexican, Mafia Genie, Dat Boy Grace, Rasheed, Filero, Big D, Money Black, Lord Loco, Texas T, Vernon Howard, Keyz and Klondike Kat. Overall it is a decent effort by the Street Military DJ and one that can still stand on its' own.

This group is also affiliated with the legendary Killa Klan and the South Park Coalition. This is their debut album and it was released in 1997 on Crunk Records. Production on this record was done by Icey Hott of Street Military, DJ Storm, D-Red of the Botany Boys and Jay Da Sinnusta. The beats are unforgiving and are straight out of gangster territory. The Lyrics, hooks and samples are all tight as well. Their rhymes portray a lot of realism and also happen to be very versatile. Featuring artists on the album are Klondike Kat, J-Bone, Brandi and Lil' Flea of Street Military. Mr. Everline is also the leader of local collective known as the $tack Pack.

Street Military is a group from Houston, TX. The members are Pharoah, Icey Hott, K.B. Da Kidnappa, Lil' Flea and Nutt (R.I.P.). This is their third album and it was released in 1993 on Wild Pitch Records. The most intriguing thing about this group is that each member represents from a different neighborhood in Houston. Icey Hott is from Hiram Clarke, Lil' Flea is from Ridgemont 4 in Missouri City, Pharoah is from South Park and K.B. is from Trinity Gardens. They came together from all the different sides of town and formed a group that would go down in underground history. Along with that, each member brings their own style and flavor to the table. Pharoah has the fast paced tongue twisting flow, K.B. is raw and aggressive, Lil' Flea is all about word play and Icey Hott is the in-house DJ/producer of all their songs and albums. The beats on this album are sick and so are the lyrics. Also there is a feature from Klondike Kat. If one is sleeping on this group, then one is sleeping on Houston. Most people have heard the "Swang & Bang" music that comes out of H-Town, its now time to notice the real side of Houston Rap.

He is regarded by many to be one of the sickest rappers to have emerged from Houston's underground. His flow is straight raw and is delivered with a fast paced tongue twisting style. This is his debut solo album and it was released in 1997 on Beatbox Records. Production was done by Icey Hott, G-Rapp and Klondike Kat and it fits Pharoah like a glove. Featuring on the album are the Burton Boyz. Pharoah is currently incarcerated for armed robbery and attempted murder. He is serving a hefty fifty year sentence. Although now some say that he lost his mind due to smoking a ton of PCP but when he was in his prime, he was a runaway freight train that was impossible to stop.
