Money Waters is a significantly talented artist from Dallas, TX. He is known for his heavily drawled southern accent and his deliberate yet unorthodox style of presentation. Red Money is an outstanding rapper and a superior producer from the west side of Atlanta, GA. He first started off in the early nineties with his partner Kilo Ali. Kilo did most of the rhyming while Red did all the producing. Together they formed a dynamic duo that released numerous records in the sub-genre known as Bass Music. Throughout the years Red Money earned a credible reputation as a dominant producer and a profound lyricist. II Much Red is his debut solo album and it was released in 1995 on Arvis LGP Records. All the groovy southern orientated production is provided by Red himself. He leaned towards a different approach for the rhythms instead of his previous conventional production pattern. The beats stay on a steady course maintaining their southern origin while fusing elements of g-funk and bass. Every track contains solid doses of head bobbing melodies, jubilant sampling and Red's signature style of scratching. The beats are just a precedent to what is yet to come. The record briskly shoots to sky in the lyrical division. Red's vocals are immensely complex and he certainly inflicts them rapidly upon the microphone. Each cut is precisely torched with his distinct delivery and sublime manner. Not to mention his extensive vocabulary that proceeds to elaborate on all topics very thoroughly. Guest appearances are made by Quaze, Lamar, Lil' Marcus, U.P.U. Clique and the Low Budget Playaz. Overall the record can easily be held in high regards, making its' demeanor genuinely invulnerable. This is one of those special albums that comes along every once in a decade which has the ability to smoothly play on both ends. It is definitely one of the finer gems to emerge out of the underground from the infamous ATL. This alone gives it a place with a very select few that have garnered the legendary/elite status.

From Mo City To Yo City
From Mo City To Yo City is an underground compilation which was put together by Johnny Palmer and it was released in 2000 on Johnny Palmer Entertainment. The record is basically an analect of various rappers whom all represent out of Missouri City, TX. Although artists like Lil' Flea of Street Military, PSK-13 of the South Park Coalition, members of the Fakkulty and C4 are absent, the record does have the majority of Mo City musicians rendering on it. This includes the likes of Z-Ro, the entire Half Dead Organization, Black Mike, B-1, III, Shano, Militant Soul, D-Ray, Lil' Devil, Amir, J-Bone, Jeff Reed and Mike. All the synth filled production is provided by Smittyroe of the Half Dead Organization, Black Mike, Infa Red and Byrd. The producers do a great job by keeping the beats relentless and making sure they carry that hardcore sound. While there are a couple tracks that are a bit slow and laid back, most of them have a dark street edged feel to them. Lyrics are nothing short of spectacular mainly due to the courtesy of the vile rappers listed above. Rhymes are portrayed in various manners and tend to change track after track. Some are delivered fast with tongue twisting styles and others are conveyed furiously with word play. The contents of the compilation range from ghetto tales to self conscious raps. Featuring on the album is Solo D of the Straight Profit Blockbleeders, Big Moe and Dat Boy Grace of the Screwed Up Click. All in all the record is a true and pure example of the underground scene from the Lone Star State. The collection served its' purpose by giving the listeners a deep genuine sound backed up by a commendable quality of substance.

Mydus is an exceptional rapper who represents straight out of Lafayette, LA. Southern Gold is his debut album and it was released in 1999 on Dynasty Records. All the deep southern fried production is provided by Jimmy Wiley, Marcus L. Cormier and Jay Burton. The beats are laced with all sorts of instruments and are mixed very congenially. This in turn makes the tracks enjoyably smooth and laid back. It is also a true definition of the timeless southern sound that is depicted in the record. Mydus can simply be described as a brute on the microphone. His lyrics display countless accounts of complex rhymes as well as the use of some genuine word play. The tempo of his delivery can also easily change pace. He showcases his pure verbal artistry on each and every ballad while still discussing and reflecting on many assorted affairs. Guest appearances are made by DJ Dolby D, Tray Duece, Mr. Newman, Aftershock, Marcus Cormier and Felica Jolivet. Overall the album offers twenty hefty tunes and gives the listeners a complete taste of the southern genre. During the nineties he played a major role in the success of Wreckshop Records and their gifted production team known as Platinum Souls. Although he was more than capable of releasing his own material, he only managed to make production credits as well as some guest appearances on many notable albums from Texas. He ended up leaving Wreckshop Records in 2001 after claiming disputes over his fair share of royalties. Under The influence is his debut solo record and it was released in 2002 on In House Entertainment. The refined production is provided by J-Pre, Double D and G. Johnson. The beats tend to be very harmonic and each track is filled with that genuine southern twang. They also happen to carry addictive hooks and some crisp sampling. D's lyrics are strictly on point and are integrated with the flair presented on the album. He showcases decent amounts of word play while conducting his rhymes in a very profound manner. Featuring artists on the album are Big T, Kottonmouth, Papa Chuck, The Pham Click, Lil' O and Hawk of the Screwed Up Click. The subject matter certainly coats a full variety of themes and topics. All in all the record certainly gives off a satisfying vibe and it can easily be labeled as a pristine gem in the underground.

The Hog Pen Clique also known as HPC, is a group from the east side of Austin, TX. It consists of Alley Cat, Big Chief, Lil' Tex and Heavy D. These Are The Days is their debut album and it was released in 2003 on Central Corridor Records. All the first class production is done by Mr. Bobcat. The beats use elements of the conventional southern fried sound and combine it with the contemporary new wave up tempo style. The end result is a magnificent presentation of top notch rhythms and fresh melodies. The producer also laced the tracks with some soothing samples and catchy hooks. All members are capable and reputable lyricist. Each of them carry their own aberrant style as well as deviant tones. Although Big Chief stands out the most in the rhyming department, his fellow comrades are not too far behind. The group conveys their work with a very unique vibe and feel. Their subject matter also covers a vast variation of topics. This includes everything from hard edged street tales to smooth ego conscious ballads. Featuring on the album is Big Baily, who generally provides some singing and back up vocals. All in all the album is a solid collective of fifteen tracks. Philmac is a boldly talented rapper and producer originally from Birmingham, AL. He has also held residence in Atlanta, GA. P-Funk is his debut album and it was released in 1998 on Phunky Entertainment. All the groovy production is provided by Philmac himself and he uses his signature style on each track. He basically hand played each instrument and earned the title as the one man band. The beats are an ensemble of funky guitar licks, ingenious keyboarding and menacing drums. That alone gives the record an exclusively canny southern feel. The lyrics don't fall short either. His tone is gratifyingly laid back but the delivery happens to be actively fast paced. The rhymes are thoroughly complex while also being genuinely lyrical. The album contains an amiable collection of fourteen tracks and all of them are equally marvelous. The subject matter is also boasted through a wide range of topics. Overall the record is a fine representation of the southern genre and it is fully compelling. It is also a polished work of art that is achieved with sheer hard work and dedication. It was later re-released in the year, 2008. Philmac is currently in the process of working on his sophomore album which is appropriately titled as "The Prince."
